Oh, God

Oh, dear God, you are so kind
to give us four lovely gifts:
'A key for every problem,
A light for every shadow,
A plan for every tomorrow
and a joy for every sorrow.'

Thank you, Oh Lord, for all these,
but may I pray you for just another?

'Give me one sweet pigeon
to carry and with love deliver
a birthday gift and a card
to every little kid living across the border,
beyond all the hills and deserts,
valleys, thickets and many a wide river
and across seven seas and their shores.'
