Theme: Question

Questions are ways of gaining information –
understandably, from the mouths of children,
disarming adults by their penetration,
simple answers, thank God, being held sufficient.
The all-important one about the birds
and the bees marks a watershed – from then
on, questions become devices one reads
into, levers of power, one to ten.
The allotrope of question is the quiz,
as question is the stairway to all knowledge;
enquiry makes question in other guise -
investigation, stripping foliage.
In its subtlest form question is its answer,
it brings to light what is already known;
inversely, what’s revealed conceals a poser –
removes mystery by that fact alone.
