Autumn Season

Early Autumn

autumn dawn --
she sees a white hair
in my mustache

autumn dawn --
mother serves white rice
on an almond leaf

autumn sky -
patches of twilight
in the falling leaf

harvest moon
taproot of a carrot
shows up red

Mid-Autumn

autumn haze –
a breath of illness in
my speech

on a stone bench
mother fingers her wrinkles
autumn loneliness

inside the hut
an old clay pot…
rainwater harvest

autumn drizzle
a wallah shakes
the orchid bouquet

Late Autumn

monsoon ends
…the sea breeze rising
into rainfall

monsoon's end . . .
clouds darken into
rainfall

monsoon ends
…the lake filling into
emptiness

autumn evening –
each tombstone’s shadow
joins the next grave

in the aquarium
stillness of the goldfish
autumn dusk

ice box ...
your last word
resonates in me
