Some Cricket Limericks

08 Dec’11: Virender Sehwag hits a record double ton (219 runs – 140 balls) at the IV ODI, Indore against the Windies

Sehwag went on a gala hitting spree
And scored a record double century.
The fourth ODI at Indore
Saw his fours 'n' sixes galore
And thus Viru made history..!

16-03-2012 Sachin Tendulkar hits a record 100th century - Mirpur Test - Bangladesh

With his 100th ton
Sachin’s job’s now done!
This record’s such a feat -
That it’s a tough one to beat.
Sachin, now just play for fun!

IPL : April 04 – 28 May, 2012

It’s the return of Chris Gayle
Who has managed to impale
Every opposition with a run riot
That has them meek and quiet
With Gayle, RCB can never fail!

Aug-Sept’12: Should Sachin Tendulkar Retire?

Thrice Sachin got bowled by NZ balls
And now there are hoots and cat calls
For his immediate retirement.
As cricket’s not about sentiment.
And lo, from grace he falls!

As has been the norm,
He’ll soon return to form
And show his usual mettle
And then the dust will settle
On “Sachin should retire” storm!

Sachin doesn’t need testimony
From selectors, cricketers or anybody…
For this too shall pass
And his talents world class
Will remain any cricketer's envy!

It is for Sachin and BCCI
To decide on his goodbye.
He could still play the longer version
With an occasional ODI-T20 excursion
And keep the Tricolor flying high.

Bob Woolmer’s Death

The mystery deepens like a thriller
About who was Bob Woolmer's killer.
With witnesses not seeming to care,
The case was headed  nowhere.
And got consigned to the chiller.

Comment I liked the limericks, especially the one on Sachin's retirement. You have caught the Indian pulse, by posting rhymes on the two Indian passions: cricket and films. Keep at it!
