Why do I feel
the reflection
in the mirror
insipid, dull and distorted?

Is my persona tainted?
Perhaps!

I may deceive myself
with a motley
of pretenses and beliefs
wearing different hats
donning varied masks,
but cannot conceal
reality from
the mirror's revelation

Comment 2 October 2012
TO: Mr. Rajender Krishan

You have touched the enigma of human images as created by God along with those created by our own ego marvelously. Again I have to draw analogy from Tagore for which I crave apology -

The person whom you create
At your hands diversely ornate;
To me he is a stranger,
Neither befits my soul inner;
Stamped by your signature
My factitious replica stands at Creation’s border;
While God on His secret mission
Builds up forms beyond our vision –
On the shore of the sea of Time;
Behind is the flamboyant mystery sublime;
Where light and shade blend
To see this or that as one might mend
To harmonize one’s imagination,
Out of forms comprising shadow, void and illusion;
To weave one’s pattern of the familiar
On the canvas of the unknown there.

Comment There is a proverb in Tamil - like the mirror reflects any aberrations on one's face, face is the index / reflection of mind's aberrations! Thanks for sharing this metaphysical poem, Rajenderji. Respects.

Comment What does a mirror reflect?
"The Inside or The Outside - perhaps Both"

A man without the capacity to reflect has simply missed the train of spiritual evolution.

Thank you our philosopher friend for this beautiful poem.

Comment “Is my persona tainted?” A mirror never shows TRUE image, but if a person tries to peep inside self, the reflection may become insipid, dull and distorted, as you said. At the same time, it's true that we don several different hats and wear varied masks.

I enjoyed this poem, sir.

Comment So True!
Life is thrilling reflection with questions - to answer or not to, answerable or unanswerable, and without mirror images life can be mundane.

Comment Dear Rajender Krishan,

Your poem captures MAAYAA beautifully and is food for lot of thought and reflection.

Please correct the last word of the fourth line if what you meant is 'distorted'.

Your poem 'Breath' is equally profound and vedantic. Kindly keep up the good work.

Best regards.
