Where Have You Gone Away?

No letter, no message either
where is that place
you have gone away?
To this poor heart giving immense stress
where have you gone away?

While taking leave
in choked voice
you might have whispered
that I couldn’t hear altogether,
every minute now I regret
where was I lost at that moment?

On everything in tears
is written your name,
every blossom on this path regrets
it could not salute nor say bye to you,
it is in bold engraved in each heart,
letting your hand off you left in a huff.

The thorns of your memory
now prick this heart,
pain does not abate, tears do not stop,
how shall I make you feel
my love is searching you still.

No letter, no message either
where is that place
you have gone away?
To this poor heart giving immense stress
where have you gone away?

[ English Translation of Chitthi Na Koi Sandes, written by Anand Bakshi, sung by Jagjit Singh Ji. ]
