I roamed for days
to find out the top school for you,
you pay me back
fixing the best old age home.
Tears in your eyes
while leaving you there
travelled with me for long.
Did you feel the same way
when our roles swapped
and you just walked cold?
I struggled to pay your fee
within the cut-off dates,
glad that you don’t eke out
to pay for my monthly care.
I curtailed my visits to you
not to distract your studies
Is it you repaying me now?
I pray, I bear this slight no more.
I have all comforts here
the best you can afford, not to refute,
yet nothing like our home,
walls bright with our smiles.
I lent my hands
for you to take the first step
you can’t recollect that, I surmise
Now my legs are shaking, I seek your hand.
I taught you all about life
maybe not about relationships
and I write to say
don’t tell your son I’m here.
