My heart is ripped and there is no thread that can mend this tear!
I bathe the wound with tears each day but no healing is in sight.
Each time I see your face, I feel your essence near me.
This I cannot - will not release.
It is the only thread that keeps me tied to you and thus my sanity remains.
Outside of this, all else feels lost in darkness and despair.
You are and always will be my goddess, my light, my love, my life.

Comment I admire the spirit of your friendship and love, Mr Gunson. This is rare but exists..!

Comment This poem is dedicated to the women I have known since I was 14 years old. We met again after we were both married with our own families and I have loved her for 22 years as a friend, then lover until she died suddenly in June 2012 after we had been married for only 6 short months. This was not just a romantic affair. She loved unconditionally and taught me to open my heart, to allow myself to become vulnerable. I have lost my best friend, my greatest love and my soul mate. This is why I write these words; in honour of her.
