At least, there is reliability
in the prospect of the New Year, agreed
by one and all, as they gather on this
midnight in celebration, its opening deed.
Also, to recount the past year’s events,
structured in idea, yet, sure as the present,
the future being built with the same materials;
the present, the platform to both dimensions.
The tactility of sense, guarantor
of past and future events, that the present
is viewed razor slim, like the end-on view
of Saturn’s rings, perhaps even non-existent
except in context of time’s panorama
that represents the absolute in all
its fleeting forms, the paradox resolved
in identity, the toast of the temporal!
