A Restless Sleep

  The wind awoke me late one night;
A raging storm of sound.
Loose windows clashed
My heart took fright;
Of shadows all around.

I paced the darkened corridors;
And searched the rooms so dim.
Seeking respite from this night
I mouthed a silent hymn.

The house was bare of human form;
Except for my sleeping wife.
The wind now calm, my mind at peace;
I returned to the afterlife
