Slow Down

I don’t know why
A dead deer
Brought a tear
To my eye.

Lying by the roadside
With a bone exposed,
Body decomposed,
Tragically it died.

I felt hurt—
A beautiful deer
Smashed in the rear,
Covered with dirt.

I don’t know why
A dead deer
Brought a tear
To my eye.

Animals need assistance;
We must all do
Everything possible to
Ensure their existence.

If we slow down,
We can strive
To keep animals alive
In our town.
