Theme: Loneliness

Home Alone...!

Back from work at seven O’clock,
I turned the key on my door lock.
As I entered, I heard a soft hiss
And felt there was something amiss...

I turned my apartment upside down
With searching glances and a frown!
But nothing was to be found,
As I carefully looked around...

I searched hither and thither
Looking for a snake to slither,
Wondering why this slimy, creepy creature
Had crawled out of its abode in nature..?

I spent a sleepless night
Imagining more hisses in sheer fright!
I got up, looked under the bed and around
And still there was nothing to be found!

At work next day, I felt disturbed
The hissing sound had me perturbed!
A colleague told me a snake story
That was both scary and quite gory...!

In the evening, it was again 7 O’clock
As I turned the key on my door lock.
I had brought along the watchman
To help me in my Operation Scan!

Once again we heard a soft hiss
I turned and asked, “What’s this..?”
With a knowing look and a face proud
The watchman laughed out real loud!

He said, “Ma’am, how did you miss
The source of this stupid hiss..?!
It is just the pressure cooker
Of your next-door neighbour!”

Gosh! Old and alone,
One is often prone
To hear some strange noises
And hissing, sinister voices..!!!
