  'Bande Mataram' the day begins
As dusk melts and midnight hones
Lord Mountbatten
Hands over India to countrymen
Between Britons and Indians
Animosity, whooshed to the winds!

Struggles done
Dauntless chorus dawn
Sacrosanct is our morn
15th of August 1947
Savor Sweet Independence
Tri-color hoist.

Victory
Freedom our dues achieve
The right to act and speak
In a state of not being
Prisoner or a slave, anymore
'Adieu' Lords, Farewell bid!

Time again has come, greetings intend
Celebrate Anniversary with songs
Dance away imperfections
Hug, to pardon flaws, homage sacrifices
Embrace in love and affection!

Courageously extend
Man to man, generate trust
Secular ways come first
Pursue ideals, candle of hope lit
People from all parts build
To Mother India Committed!

Fearlessly defend
Democracy in heart
Derisions blow apart
Challenges meet
Brush aside scorn, sorrows wipe
Fruits of labor reap.
