Stepped out of door into snow to mount steel horse
in midst of rays bouncing off road
paved with diamonds
poised to fly in fancy as horseman
never in field
ever before
conquests that await
were his to discover
his to claim

Bounties of technology at command
I decreed
piston to ram in womb of barrel
wheels to roll in rear

I ruled over directions

Sudden skid followed imperious rumble
tires dived in pool of snow
fed with gasoline engine roared
wheels sank deeper
and deeper
in mound as knowledge in mind
or prejudice
if reasoned against
army of directions that I summoned
wound around in warped space
to converge onto one direction

Glance of Medusa had touched feathers of fancy
transmuted in marbles dreams rolled
into oblivion

Road in bliss
as far away as diamond ring
ever from an unwed finger
