She lied to me for the first time
For, she had spoken the truth
To her friends about the games
She didn't have any in her home.
With some examples she cited
Of her friends she played with
She convinced me to buy her
A video game, how much costly.
The careful guardian in me
Made me probe into the matter
To my dismay no friend of hers
Had any game they deserved.
Her childish lies belied me though
Yet opened up my caring eyes
For, I was a doting father to her
But blind to her childhood needs.
Down came to me the realization
Children needs never be ignored
They have their own world of joy
And we should not usurp her toys.
