Prey

When I woke up one fine dawn
And sat near your feet,
At once I knew you’re the one,
You make me complete!

Then when you opened your eyes,
And saw me staring at thee,
You could hear my heart’s cries,
And came closer and closer to me.

We were hardly an inch apart
Staring at one another,
It was a secret talk - heart to heart,
A unique love, like no other.

My voice was choked, throat dried,
I ran to the verandah right away,
Silently, covertly there I cried,
Not a single word could I say.

You came to ask me there
‘Hey, what happened?’
Into your eyes I couldn’t stare
As at that time my eyes rained.

I told you ‘leave me alone’,
You did that without arguing,
Helplessly I had to moan,
My feelings for you were brewing.

The moment you knew
How head over heels
I was in love with you;
Then you were also in thrills!

But our fate parted us,
You had to walk away,
Life became a circus,
And we became its prey!
