Last Night I Saw the Moon

Last night, the moon was full.
Pregnant, thoughtful, happy
And she fell asleep on a hill.
The nightlong vigil that I kept
Made no sense to her benumbed body
But her spirit shed light
And I saw the hill nudge her
Ever so gently.

I have to keep watch again tonight,
Lest she falls off the hill,
On a palm fringe,
And lose her pregnant light.
