Theme: Introspection

Child at Heart

In the cradle of each and every heart
swings a child to the end from the start;
a pigeon, a lion, an elephant,
a bee or even an ant is no different!

Following overnight rains
when fifty odd pigeons land
on our terrace for grains,
they stand in one-inch deep water;

Still they do not sip even a drop
and wait for me to fill the bowl
for them to quench their thirst!
With moist eyes I stand aghast…

This leaves me to ponder,
‘Are these not like the kids
waiting to be fed by their mother?
Aren’t birds, animals and humans
same by nature?’

Comment What a nice and heart touching poem it is ! I am sure that you love whole
universe,even animals,birds,fishes,human beings and trees, plants also.
If we love them ,they love too.They give us response positively.It is your love
which returns to you in ten folds.Sometimes it receives in an another form.
The poem shows your pure heartedness and true affection for the creatures.
A chain of love should be continue .I felt nice to read your poem & have a
great respect to your writings.Thank you Mr.Mallick.Sometimes you should
submit a poem of three or four stanzas than three lines.It lights on your
hidden qualities.A lot of thanks again.
