Character of a Writer

He is a writer.
Bit proud.
When anyone asks him
to speak about writings
in general,
he speaks mostly
about his own writings.

He cares two hoots
about others' writings,
except when he is friends
with them.

He hides a razor
up his sleeves,
metaphorically speaking; -
a razor of pride, jealousy, and
competitiveness.

He has no qualms
about using it
in the garb of false praise
so often!

Shouldn't a writer
rather show up
what is lofty and noble
in humans?
