Moment In The Middle

This time
just across
could have been
the beginning of
a very far away.

For an instant
the switch-off
threw light on
my mother’s wait,
her eyes beckoning
me to go back.

I had for a moment
lost on my daughter’s wail
in this exact middle,
opening me to a brand
new dimension of
leaving and leaving behind
a near remorse.
