Raids of Hunger

May have enough
or nothing at all,
hunger bites with even menacing teeth.

The distance between food and
the famished is deadly,
most die in raids of hunger
those who survive stand
on pencil thin legs and bloated bellies.

The fire of hunger burns
and yet they
live to see the obscene dance of death.

You can’t hang a hungry man
for going hungry,
this infliction comes to him
enroute your opulence
and your terror taste buds.
