Beyond the Superficial

Contracted imagination
and limited dreams

Bizarre thoughts
and the wildest screams

The shrillest highs
and the lowest lows

Unkept promises
and broken vows.

But you, hoping, demanding, wishing - but meticulously failing
Being pulled and torn - you’re ailing.

Ever and again, you feel the persistent beat
Holding on, more to defeat.
