Solitude

Tonight I treasure 
calmness, 
solitude, 
allowing concentration 
fully expand, 
free from distractions 
clouding my mind. 
 
Alone in the comfort 
of my own company, 
except for my kittens 
loving friends, 
purring delight. 
 
Beethoven's Pastoral 
brings me 
to the highest 
emotions my heart 
can reach, 
while I remember. 
 
My eyes move 
gently around 
so many pictures 
of my loved ones 
all now gone, 
filling me with 
memories 
of pure joy. 
 
I observe them 
a long time, 
they become alive 
to envelop my being
with deep warm love. 
 
Drinking slowly 
from my cup of tea
I smile.
