How is it I come to adore this woman?
She holds not my heart in her hand
But my existence in her gaze!

I mourn not her passing,
No more than a diver
mourns the expiration of his air.

She is not missed,
my heart has gone with her!

What is left in this breast
Is just the echo
of all that beats for her.

I do not love this woman,
She's all that love is.

She is not my friend,
She is all the company I would keep
Until the fires in our souls dim out.

This woman is me
And I am her
Always and ever,
Amen.
