Life After Death

  It is hard to believe in an after-life -
after all, where were you
before you were born?

And when you began to realize
you were in evidence,
you heard of this strange thing called death.

You saw it in dead things, even
in the tasty chicken curry,
and you understood it completely.

It was good, to the extent
that the dead could never be pitied;
and then, there was the after-life.

It must have been the invention
of the living, who else? but with such
conviction, it must be true.

It means you were there before
you were born, waiting to be born,
or how remain when dust and ashes?
