Common Citizens of India
|
by Dr. Varanasi Ramabrahmam |
|
|
Naxalites own the forests
And the tribal the mountains;
The chauvinist and fanatic;
Caste and regional leaders,
And sub-nationality professing and
Championing lunatics
Own the rest of the country;
To where do I belong and what is my status?
Where shall I live?
And how shall I earn my livelihood?
I am a common citizen of an ancient land;
India! |

A thought provoking poem with very pertinent questions raised. Indeed where is the place of common man In today's India as most of it has been reclaimed by corruption and vote bank politics. INDIAis best described as Intelligent Nation Doing Idiotic Acts or Intolerant Nation Doing Insensitive Acts...! Thanks for sharing this well written poem, Dr. Varanasi.

Yours is a wailing cry in wilderness Poor denizen of non-man's land Please know you are not alone And that is the only hope we have Let us build on it and forge forward
