October 2: Birthday of Two Idols

Gandhi_Shastri1.jpg

One fathered the Nation
As an apostle of peace and love
And faced wrong bullets,
In misguidedly prevalent tentacles;
Another died in harness
As a noble premier of the country
While steering the critical sail
Against the diplomatic obstacles.

Gandhi and Shastri
The greatest figures of the nation
Born on the same august day
Worked for us without a cessation;
In the disturbed center
Surrounded by the mightiest foes
Ruling the roost highhandedly
Subjecting Indians to severe woes.

Thanks to both and the ilk
India soars high in all global fields
Peace and prosperity reign
In cordial deeds of egalitarian guilds;
Gandhi's love and non-violence
And Shastri's Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan slogan
We hold them in high esteem
As our idols and nationalistic paragon.
