Motherhood

A beautiful little angel
Flutters into my world
Her innocent brown eyes
In fascination unfold
They glance around in awe
At hues bright and bold
Perplexed at the glow
And the glory they behold

They slowly shift gaze
As I watch spell bound
To look straight at me
And time comes to a ground
Shrill is the silence
Its voice profound
As we stare at each other
My tears flow unbound

I wait for recognition
My heart ever so anxious
She takes one long look
And decides I'm hers!
Oh, the sheer joy of a Mother
Holding her baby in her arms
A tiny bundle of joy
That signifies her existence!
