Greeting cards
in their own way
wake memories.

Black rose
laminates a moment
lost in your smile.

Minaret
a prayer
unheard.

Feather spread
peacock
wailing over its claws.

London bridge,
daffodils and
a lost profile.

Un-torn
the cards would
have ruined my life.

Those ornamenting
your mantel piece
are wishing

me well
along with the one
dragging the cross in the hour of doom.
