One Foot Heavy

Always felt a foot
heavier than the other.

This time, getting into this
chill from home
the lighter foot swelled.

Tendons thick and tense
historic ache immense,
but not in the shy legs
filled with a sense of slip.

In this to and fro of life
blood freezes far at the fingers.
Arms in despair seek memories
of monsoon rain, when every step made
a splash of your face wet with hope.

At this below freezing age
a slight slip will crack the edifice

of caution and you.
