Darling!

  Darling!
I want neither
The sun nor moon
Nor the firmament
Decked with stars
Just to help me
Cross the bars.

Darling!
I want neither
The flowers
Nor a garland
Nor a song to welcome
Just don’t quit me halfway
Whatever may come!

Darling!

I want neither
words of honors
Nor trophies of awards
Nor a psalm anymore
To ferry me across the river
Just be my oar.

Darling!
I want you to be
Neither behind me
Nor ahead of me
Nor off my sight
Just be a tree of shadow
With heat when I fight.

Darling!
I want neither
The heaven
Nor any salvation
Nor canonization for free
Just fill me with love
As you’re on a loving spree!
