Skeletons

Bare fragile skeletons
A file of bones
Left behind
Scattered
Lifeless
In eerie silence
Yet alive in the grave
As a lesson
For the passersby.....

Their longings,
Desires,
Yearnings,
Dreams,
Aspirations,
Fulfilled, unfulfilled
Once housed
In the bodily palaces
Have now no meaning for them…

Human flesh
Of airy arrogance and beauty
Decayed, decomposed
Eaten by hungry insects,
Emitting bad stinks.
The hot blood
Of retaliation, youthfulness
Dried up like the ink
Disappeared on blotting paper.
The veins of ego,
The hearts of jealousy,
Scornful eyes
Backbiting tongues
Now rest forever in crust
Freely frozen, mingled with dust.
