Priceless

  Breathing: alive,
You are breath;
Food: life,
You, that food;
When away,
A living presence
in aching absence;
Therapy, in depression;

Now: You are beyond all these essentials
Of grim existence on a crowded,
Polluted, degraded planet -

My lady beautiful,
A calming internal landscape;
You have evolved and become
Over the long struggling decades,
Consciousness and
Aesthetics, uplifting,

Hope that cheers up
All this and more
To a sensitive
Battered heart;
Priceless YOU,
Like an angry Picasso
In a war-ravaged world,
Still cautioning, from a museum slot, mad dictators
And power-hungry elites.

Happy Women's Day

Comment Thanks Padmaja for finding echoes from the current history that is inimical to the female gender.
Remain grateful.

Comment Ah, this one, to me, felt more like a tribute to Aruna Shanbaug, the battered nurse who lies in a vegetable state in KEM Hospital Mumbai for more than three decades now...and many more such nameless, faceless (acid attack victims) women. Thanks for sharing.
