I May Come Back

  If you so wish
Again I may come back to the shores of this sea
Where joys and sorrows
Play in waves.
Again I'll float my raft on the water
Once more I'll play on the dust
And in tears
Again I'll chase after happiness like a mirage.

In the dark
Along the way full of thorns
Again I'll embark on a journey
I'll care least
If I would succumb or survive
After being pierced.
In disguise
Again you will play with me in fun
In a new love
Once more I'll love this world afresh.

Translation of the devotional song - Abar jodi ichha karo abar asi phire/dukhosukher dheu khelano ei sagarer tire - from the collection Gitali by Rabindranath Tagore. The original with its swaralipi or notation is at http://www.rabindra-rachanabali.nltr.org/node/4734.
