Glow & Dark

When we sat in the bar
The drinks arrived with froth
Cheers we echoed
Sipped the golden beer

There were lots of sounds
Around us to distract
But, I wonder how come
I wasn’t disturbed a wee bit

We spoke in soft voice
In the soft light of the bar
I looked at his face
That glowed beautifully

His eyes spoke more
Words than from his mouth
There was a perpetual smile
Sitting on his luscious lips

I told him he always
Becomes beautiful
And Handsome when
He gets drunk

He smiled for that also
A bewitching smile
With a mystery packed which
I failed to understand

What he wanted to tell
Through that enigmatic
Smile in his radiant face
And eyes as answer

I was so mesmerized
By the radiance and
Failed to react
Kept myself in the dark

I understand it now
I read his mind now
I missed his invitation, alas
It is too late even to lament
