Mushrooms

  Buried they live and wait
in warped darkness
extorting elixir off inanimate matter
infuse sentience in between fibers
toil till ample to shove bulk
enough to break the back of Atlas

In clusters peer through dusky shadows
by the millions
as army of medieval peasants
rising in revolt out of gutters
in streets

I fear
they might knock at my door
any time
