In Search of Joy

Hope is hopeless addiction
Almost impossible to cure
We continue to look for joy
In places where it is never

This world is a deceptive mart
And we trade in fake emotions
Pleasure is evanescent & elusive
Always followed by dejection

Tears are aplenty, laughter miniscule
World of make belief, sadly shameful
How long would such exchange continue!
Turn O man, turn away from falsehood

Search within the mansion of soul
Where joy resides as blissful goal!
