At The Wedding

  At that busy wedding,
The excitement of seeing you,
The excuses to speak to you,
Wanting to know who were you related to.

Any excuse to walk past you,
Offering you sweets and tea,
Enjoying being in the kitchen,
Although I would not know what to do.

Behaving like an actress,
Eyes down yet trying to charm you.
Looking in the mirror,
In anticipation of when you will ask.
Finding your mother, a stranger,
Being her best friend in a day or two.
Secretly wanting to know,
Is she looking for a wife for you!

Me, me, me! Look it's me!
Mom, help! Be her best friend!
Talk about cooking, sarees and films.
It looks promising, at this wedding!
