Mamta: Woman of Substance

  Almost smothered by her destiny
dejected in her groove
yet she collects beads of her tears
and weaves the nuggets
of courage mustered with aplomb
to cope with her trauma
and existential anguish
in the society of male egos,
man always dominates woman
who is always at the receiving end
or pushed into a dungeon alley.

The marital canopy had
transient charm of her grace
aftermath devastation robbed her
of her precious wealth
yet she is a woman of substance
as she has always proven it
by digesting all the familial poison.
Now she rises up from the ruins
Like a phoenix empowered
only to win the long race -
the usurped races of human life.
