Paean

As the melting sun cast his rays
a procession of stars gleamed
from rain-washed leaves
Trees waltzed to melodious zephyr
The bewitching forest aquiver
like a new bride
'Neath a veil of glistening mists.

Beyond, the dense apparition of a hill
readied to bed the sun
as he bowed out
in a resplendent finale
of blazing glory

My captive soul slipped into a trance
beguiled by the sorcerous moment
besotted, by the spirit of day
relinquishing herself
to the phantoms of night
That, fresh with the morning dew
she may be kissed awake
by her betrothed ' the Sun.
