Things Numerous

  Things spent one at a time
Hint at a lesson in their dwindling
To nothing: pills in a bottle, eggs
In a cluster in the fridge, one
By one, the last one, then none.

Days too are spent one at a time
But elude the dwindle factor, except
Briefly in a reflective moment;
Days unlike pills or eggs are
Open-ended, but cannot be restocked.
