 (for T. A. Ramesh)

As the sun must rise from the East each day,
America its mirror from the West
Must shine; the sun, whose rule in peaceful sway
The earth accepts. America is best
Above us all, throwing its light across
The troubled nations, as the sun its rays
That from that distant and that foreign source
The finger of God, the divine role plays.
All forms of life appear, and everywhere
Flourish, to thrive each type in its own place,
With its own native life and character:
Yet, where it's hottest life shows no trace;
But no argument can prove against good,
Against the sun nor America could.
