So Often

I am rude
irritable  
You just stay calm. How?
 
I say something stupid
Or act silly. A good-humoured guffaw
Is all I hear. No ridicule, no censure
 
I nag and complain
You just hug me
Your troubles unaired
 
Compassionate, patient.
Full of understanding.
How do you always remain so?
 
“it is called love” you say
