Not Timeless

Not all remain -
How much promise
You may have.

Words leave a moment’s
Emotional trail.
A fleeting thought
That reigns over others
Ephemerally or for a while.
It’s the truth of that moment
May get guzzled by the well of time.

So dear, don’t hold it that close
That it too takes you into
The bottom of darkness,

Where pain doesn’t let you breathe.
