Dying To Be Nowhere

A blood trail of footprints leads you far from home
From the warm light of day into cold dark depths
Through the open doorway of life's welcoming glow
To your lacerated corpse, entombed deep below.

Cast adrift in a realm where snowflakes whirl
And hailstones strike the unknowing ones
The jaded voice of the ferryman calls for one last fare
And you float into Hell with a vapid stare.

As the final echo of your tortured soul's scream
Fades into the emptiness of your own death dream.
