The Present Moment

Mine and others lives around me
Keep teaching me one thing
That none owns anyone
Nothing remains forever
All are like passing clouds

Like the rain lashes for long
Some stay with us
With their miseries,
Problems and become a burden
And drain away their
Energy and our energy

Some come like a whiff of air
They touch and pass
Some make an impression
Like a scented breeze
Some like a bad odor
But, it is short in duration

Some are like sunny days
They make life happy
Purposeful and memorable
Sunny days are long for some
Short for some unlucky

Some hug us close like
A winter and either
Needing warmth or
To extend warmth
But that too lasts only
For some time in life

Like the seasons of
A year and nature
People come and go
Even our own parents,
Children and friends
Relatives and acquaintances

Nature changes perpetually
We too keep changing
Life is ephemeral and
Not permanent
So are the people and
Their links and ties with us!

In this Transient Life the only one
Which I can say mine
Is the present moment!
