Theme: Couple

An Aged Couple

Every day the lean, aged, toothless man
comes with his menopaused wife, 
The woman lightly lifts a sack of clothes on her 
man's drooping head and begins her day. 
They are street hawkers 
They keep sacks at Benuda's tea shop where we read 
Neruda, Lorca, Ginsberg 
And they come and size our legs and pull their sacks 
from our sides. 
If I miss the scene, the day is stale 
and if our guests grace I touch the sky!
