Broken Ties

From within my heart

You pulled out the thorn

But forgot to block

The overflowing blood.

Its redness reminded me

Of the depths of feelings.

Its thickening flow

Of the crowded memories.

A drop fell to the floor

Reminding me of the broken ties

That never should have broken -

And now I want to cry.
