|     We sat by the lake A passing duck gave us a flirting nod The pristine water I could almost see the reflection In the depth of his eyes!
The water lilies floated on the blue Gentle morning breeze softly stirred them The wind caressed buds swelled in bloom spreading their sweet fragrances.
I touched the sunrays  That streaked his hair I blinked my eyes And it was already afternoon Ah! There is never enough time  For souls pulsating in love.
Weeping willows smiled perhaps to a gurgling laughter of a little girl As she ran to her daddy And I rested my head on his shoulder And gazed at the orange sky on the water.
The old couple  perched on the white bench Their story-laden hands tucked in each other's Perhaps romancing their chronicle.
We were...  as if a painter's nostalgia Of a world that is speechless quietened with happiness.         Image © Jayati Chowdhury |
