A Martyr's Mother

In the long gloomy evening
Deepened by thunders and storms
Tears bleed from the sky.
Stars on the crimson horizon proudly smile
Throwing a challenge to the sun
Amidst the roaring sounds
Of blind cross-firings of hatred,
Vendetta and retaliation.

Amidst the salutes of the trees
The earth silently mourns the brave death.
Mother's smiles overshadow
The sobbing and crying crowds
As she feels proud of his act of valour
For he laid down his life-
Fighting until the last drop of blood,
For the sake of his Motherland.

Like Indian mothers of soldiers
She bravely puts him to eternal sleep
By handing over his mortal remains
To the fire of pyre, burning
In the glorious cradle of martyrdom
His dead body now lying in peace.
